If not wrong, check on the 2.5", should be IDE interface, and
the 3.5", the interface is whether a ATA 133 or SATA...
What sort of casing your friend's using? Maybe can suggest to your
friend to try on both USB connection...
That's how me done my data transfer and archival using 2.5" and
3.5"...
